Sriimurali on Bagheera’s action: ‘Fights are not like songs; you can never go in fully prepared’

Bagheera, which has Sriimurali as a crime-fighting vigilante, includes multiple action blocks, most of which was new, challenging and risky for the actor.

Bagheera is an action-packed emotional drama – that’s how the team describes the film. The teaser and trailer of the film indicate that is a lot of high-octane action, which, according to leading man Roaring Star Sriimurali was far more challenging and riskier for him. In fact, Sriimurali had sustained a major injury during one, which kept him out of action for 6 months.

Visually, Bagheera is like Batman, which was intentional, says director Dr Suri

The kind of stunts that he’s done in the film are different in terms of the choreography, scale, etc. which make them visually appealing to audiences, reckons the actor, adding that a lot of it was novel to him. The credit to all of that goes to stunt master Chetan D’Souza, says Sriimurali, talking to The Hindu.

Two action blocks – one on a terrace and another on a train – are major highlights. “I had not done such fights before and the terrace sequence was shot shortly after I rejoined the set following my ACL injury. Honestly, I was not worried about the intensity of the sequence, given that it was so soon after the injury, instead, I wanted to prove to everyone that I was back and set to start work with gusto. Of course, everyone on set kept telling me to be careful, but I wanted to give my best to the action block, so, even when there were instances that seemed risky, I went ahead and executed them,” said the actor.

During the sequence, there was a brief moment when it seemed Sriimurali had hurt himself yet again, but thankfully, it wasn’t anything major. “The thing about action is that you cannot approach it like a song shoot. No matter how well prepared you are when doing a fight, there will be risks. And that is what I told myself when I did those stunts,” added Sriimurali.

The actor also says that the stunt choreography apart, the cooler side of the action blocks are the weapons and gadgets that Bagheera uses. These, he reckons, will be interesting elements for audiences across age groups.
