Janhvi Kapoor has revealed that she finally understands why her mother had admitted to wanting to quit acting to be there for her family, as she is feeling very “maternal” towards sister Khushi Kapoor.
In a recent interview, actress Janhvi Kapoor has revealed that her mother, late actress Sridevi, had called them up crying while shooting English Vinglish. She had stated that she wanted to quit acting to be there for her children. Janhvi also said she looked up to her mother, who, at the peak of her career, gave it all up to bring up her and Khushi. She also revealed that Sridevi often cried and called them up because she was missing them. The Dhadak star recalls how her mother missed Khushi’s birthday while shooting English Vinglish. Thus, she called them up “howling” about how she does not want to act again and just wants to be there for her children.
Even though Jahnvi initially never understood that feeling, she finally does. The actress admitted to having to resist countless urges to quit her acting career to support her sister Khushi Kapoor, who is preparing for her acting debut with Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies. Janhvi expressed to Mashable in an interview how she’s feeling very 'maternal' towards Khushi these days and that her feelings very much seem to emulate how her mother would feel. She has begun to say the same things to Khushi that the English Vinglish star would tell her daughters.
She finds herself echoing her mothers sentiments. Janhvi is so ready to quit acting to be there for her sister and “make sure everything is good.” She admits to questioning the kind of sister she is, as she was present for Khushi’s first day of shooting, but had to leave for her own acting engagements before Khushi’s first shot. This led her to tears and the belief that she has not been a good sister and is not there for her family enough.
Janhvi expressed, “I had to leave because I had to reach Lucknow to shoot Bawaal and I have cried and cried and cried. I wasn’t able to be there for her on her first day… I was in the worst mood and I was like, ‘main acting chhod rahi hu.”
Janhvi will soon conclude wrapping up promotions for Mili, will begin promoting Mr and Mrs Mahi with Rajkummar Rao, followed by Bawaal with Varun Dhawan. Khushi, meanwhile, is all set to make her acting debut with Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies. The lead cast of the Archies also includes Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan and Amitabh Bachchcan's grandson Agastya Nanda.
