Record-breaking prize money
The stakes in the real-world Squid Game aren't quite as high as in the fictional version, but they're still high. The total cash reward is $4.56 million, making it the highest in the history of reality television. Everyone will be tested to their limits over the course of a series of games, and they'll have to decide how far they're willing to go to come out on top.
On November 22nd, Netflix will release the first episode of Squid Game: The Challenge. The United Kingdom served as the setting for all ten episodes of the competition series.
Brandon Riegg, vice president of unscripted and documentary programmes at Netflix, said in a statement that Squid Game took the world by storm with Director Hwang Dong-hyuk's captivating story and iconic imagery. While making the announcement back in 2022, Netflix revealed that people who are planning to participate should know there are still a few hurdles to overcome before they can claim their share of the $4.56 million prize, even if they have a green sweatsuit chosen out to wow the Front Man.
