Prominent South Korean actor Lee Jung-jae, who is best known to the rest of the world for his role in the Netflix series Squid Game is set to showcase his directorial debut at the 75th Cannes Film Festival.
The movie titled Hunt (Namsun in Korean), a spy thriller set in the '80s, will be screened in the festival's Midnight Screening section, which specifically focuses on the thriller genre.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that Lee has directed and co-written the feature in which he also stars alongside Jung Woo-sung.

Hunt will follow two Korean National Intelligence Service special agents who are both ordered to find a North Korean mole within their agency. "During the course of their investigations, the pair come face to face with an unbearable truth, but must complete their own missions at all costs," read the synopsis provided by THR.
Lee became a global figure after the meteoric success of Squid Game which also went on to become Netflix's first most-watched non-English title. The show has been renewed for a second season, with the original creator Hwang Dong-hyuk and Lee reprising his role.
Lee played Seong Gi-hun, a down on luck man who joins the deadly games to win the massive prize money and settle his debts. For his role, the actor won Screen Actors Guild Award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a drama series among other accolades.
The Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 17 to May 22. The organisers announced yesterday that an Indian documentary All That Breathes will also be screened at the event's Special Screening segment.
