Squid Game American Remake is still alive with David Fincher putting it together reportedly - Here's everything we know
Squid Game American Remake Still On Track?
A show we all found while dealing with the newly imposed captivation in our lives during the pandemic replicated the wilder version of being in captivity. You might have guessed which show we are talking about, and in case you haven't, we are discussing one of Netflix’s crown jewel shows, Squid Game. It impressed almost all of us with the content it brought to the forefront. The show that began with people in dire need of money signing up for a contest soon turned out to be a bloodbath that none of us were expecting. Actually, we were expecting nothing at all because this was a blueprint that was completely new for us. Given this, it is understandable that other filmmakers from across the world would think of replicating the magic. And what if that filmmaker is David Fincher? That show is still alive, fam!
In case you are confused with the twist that happened in the last two lines of the above paragraph, the popularity of Squid Game season one made Netflix confident enough to greenlight a second season and look for other avenues to branch out the IP. There were reports last year that the streaming giant was interested in creating an American version of Squid Game and that they had even commissioned David Fincher to develop one. But it turns out that news died down in the rumor realm pretty fast, and nothing about it came out after that.
Between then and today, the streamer released Squid Game: The Challenge reality competition series, confirmed the second season of the show, and is set to release, but nothing on the American version. It turns out that the show is still alive, and David Fincher is still working on putting it all together for an American version of Squid Game. As per ComicBook, Fincher is still attached to the project and has been developing the show for the past two years. He will be attached as a producer; whether he will direct or serve as the showrunner is not yet clear.

Everything about the Squid Game American remake sounds interesting, as there is so much to explore in American society with the theme of the Korean show, and it will indeed be fun to see the same.
The official synopsis on Netflix’s website, Tudum, reads, “Squid Game introduces viewers to a group of contestants desperate enough to risk their lives in a mysterious survival game for the promise of a 45.6 billion won cash prize. Season 2 will follow hero Gi-hun as he abandons his plans to go to the United States. Instead, he begins a chase with an important motive.”
