Did you know David Fincher presented his idea of Spider-Man's story to Sony in 2002, before Sam Raimi was assigned? That's what we learnt from the director himself when he opened up to The Guardian about his latest release, The Killer.

Fincher said that he wanted to avoid the "bitten by a radioactive spider” part and focus on a grown-up Peter Parker, but Sony desperately wanted the original story.

What did Fincher say?

“They weren’t fucking interested. And I get it. They were like: ‘Why would you want to eviscerate the origin story?’.” David shared, “And I was like: ‘Cause it’s dumb?’ That origin story means a lot of things to a lot of people, but I looked at it and I was like: ‘A red and blue spider?’ There’s a lot of things I can do in my life and that’s just not one of them.”

Sam Raimi's film has garnered a massive box office collection with $825 million worldwide. Therefore, later he got the chance again to direct the other 2 Tobey Maguire-starrers too.

David talked about The Social Network sequel

However, in that interview, David was also asked about the sequel of The Social Network. In reply to that, the director had nothing much to say. He only spilled, “Aaron (who wrote the film) and I have talked about it, but, umm that’s a can of worms.”

David Fincher's The Killer is a thriller drama, which tells a story about a killer, who is surrounded with solitary, cold, methodical and unencumbered by scruples or regrets, waits in the shadows, watching for his next target. Yet, the longer he waits, the more he thinks he's losing his mind, if not his cool.

The Killer had a limited theatrical release on October 27 in the US and now is scheduled to premiere on November 10 on Netflix
