The much talked about Spider-Man: No Way Home the third film in the Spider-Man franchise, is set to release this week.
Marvel films have a lot of hype surrounding them and are worth the wait. They deliver what they promise in terms of value for entertainment, and Spider-Man: No Way Home is no different. It is set to premiere this week and has fans waiting in anticipation for the third instalment of the trilogy. The release of the third film was understandably delayed due to the pandemic.
This film is the sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home and is a part of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) Spider-Man trilogy that is directed by filmmaker Jon Watts. It picks up directly after the incidents of the previous film, where Spider-Man was framed by Mysterio and his secret identity is exposed by J. Jonah Jameson, the host of the news media outlet Daily Bugle.
Billed as a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle that surpasses the magnanimity of Avengers: Endgame Sony and Marvel Studios tried their level best to keep the details of this film as close to the chest as possible.
Who are the makers of Spider-Man: No Way Home?
The film is directed by Jon Watts who directed the previous two films, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home. After impressing the Marvel and Sony producers with how he successfully made the first two films, Watts was entrusted with the third one and the reboot of the Fantastic Four franchise.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is co-Produced by Amy Pascal of Columbia Pictures and Kevin Feige of Marvel Studios. The 27th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, based on the stories and characters by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Mauro Fiore, of Avatar fame, is behind the camera, while Michael Giacchino who scored the music for the previous films is in charge of the sound design.
Who are the actors in Spider-Man: No Way Home?
Tom Holland reprises his role as Peter Parker. It is a tough adjustment for the actor to play the role of a teenager right after playing a serious and mature role in Cherry. Zendaya is playing the role of MJ or Michelle Jones, Peter’s classmate and romantic interest. Jacob Batalon is coming back as Peter’s best friend and classmate Ned Leeds. Benedict Cumberbatch is reprising his role as Dr. Stephen Strange, the sorcerer supreme.
It’s common knowledge now that J. K. Simmons is reprising his role as J.Jonah Jameson from Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man trilogy. Willem Defoe is returning to play the role of the famous nemesis of Spider-man, the Green Goblin, along with Alfred Molina who returns as Otto Octavius or the infamous Doctor Octopus, and Thomas Haden Church as Sandman - all three characters are from Rami’s original trilogy starring Tobey Maguire. Finally, Jamie Foxx and Rhys Ifans are also reprising their roles as Electro and Lizard from The Amazing Spider-Man series starring Andrew Garfield. These characters will likely be introduced as part of a multiverse storyline connecting all cinematic versions of Spider-Man. It remains to be seen if Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will return as their respective versions of Spider-Man.
What is Spider-Man: No Way Home about?
After his life, and his career as a student who’s on the verge of joining a college, his reputation as a superhero - everything gets turned upside down when Mysterio frames Spider-Man for his death. Peter seeks the help of Doctor Strange to reset his life by restoring his secret identity using sorcery. But this process breaks the multiverse open, which allows five supervillains from alternate universes to arrive at Peter’s (Tom Holland) universe.
The story depicts how Peter handles the threats and his fight to overcome them with the help of his friends and Doctor Strange. This movie also introduces the concept of the multiverse in the Marvel Cinematic Universe officially.
