Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse became a surprise hit following its release in 2018, becoming an instant hit with the fans. The makers of its sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, have now released the first look of the antagonist, The Spot.

“Meet The Spot, Miles Morales's most formidable foe yet. Voiced by Jason Schwartzman, see him in action in Spider-Man: Across the #SpiderVerse, exclusively in movie theaters June 2, 2023 (sic),” wrote the official Spider-Man Instagram page, sharing the photo.

The photo, which is a frame from the movie, shows Miles Morales kicking The Spot, as the villain turns himself into a portal, resulting in Miles’ foot kicking Spider-Gwen in the background.

For the uninitiated, The Spot aka Dr. Jonathan Ohmn, is a supervillain who is known for his rivalry against the web slinger and Daredevil. The Spot appears in all white with black spots in his body, which allows him to open portals and travel through time and space. The Spot in theory is the perfect villain for a Spider-Man movie that explores the multiverse.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will feature a whole bunch of Spider-Man versions, including Spider-Woman and Spider-Man 2099. Jason Schwartzman, who was last seen in The French Dispatch, will voice the antagonist.

While Shameik Moore returns to voice Miles, the movie also features Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen, Oscar Isaac as Miguel O'Hara aka Spider-Man 2099, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Brian Tyree Henry and Luna Lauren Vélez.

Sticking with the three person directorial tactic, Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson is at the helm of the sequel. The highly anticipated movie, which will follow Miles in a multiversal adventure, is set to hit theatres on June 2, 2023.
