The team of Udhayanidhi Stalin's Nenjukku Needhi arranged a special screening for the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin
The makers of Udhayanidhi Stalin's Nenjukku Needhi recently arranged a special screening for the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. Pictures of the TN CM meeting the cast and crew at the screening have been doing the rounds on the internet. In the pictures, Stalin is seen in a casual avatar having a chat with producer Boney Kapoor. He also seen talking to the film's director Arunraja Kamaraj. The film's leading lady Tanya Ravichandran is also seen.
Nenjukku Needhi is all set to hit screens this week on May 20. The audio and trailer of the film were launched last week in a grand function in Chennnai. Nenjukku Needhi is a remake of the 2019 Hindi film, Article 15, a neo-noir crime drama, directed and produced by Anubhav Sinha.
It had Ayushmann Khurrana playing the lead, who plays a Brahmin police officer who uncovers the history of caste oppression in a village in Uttar Pradesh. The plot of Article 15 is said to be inspired by real life incidents, especially, the 2014 Badaun gang rape and the Una flogging incident in 2016, which sent shockwaves across the country.
The title of the film is named after Article 15 of the Indian Constitution that prohibits discrimination on the grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or birthplace. Article 15 received praise for its sensitive portrayal of caste-based discrimination. The cast included Nassar, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Sayani Gupta, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Isha Talwar, Sushil Pandey, Veen Harsh and Sumbul Touqeer.
The Tamil version stars Udhayanidhi Stalin, Aari Arujunan, Tanya Ravichandran and Shivani Rajasekhar in the lead. This is Arunraja Kamaraj's second directorial after Kanaa. The title of the Tamil version, Nenjuku Needhi, is named after the autobiography of Udhayanidhi's grandfather and the DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi. Cinematography for the film is by Dinesh Krishnan and editing is by Ruben.
