After three consecutive Netflix outings, Abhishek Chaubey is returning with a series starring Manoj Bajpayee and Konkona Sensharma.
An unconventional drama mixed in with some dark comedy is what audiences can expect from Netflix and celebrated filmmaker, Abhishek Chaubey, as they come together once more. Known for his directorial work on Ray and Ankahi Kahaniyan and producing Raat Akeli Hai Soup is headlined by a truly powerful cast and critically acclaimed actors, Konkona Sensharma and Manoj Bajpayee.
The lead actor, showrunner, and director, Abhishek Chaubey, can be seen cooking up a storm in a first-look, behind-the-scenes video. The dark-comedy crime series is produced by Macguffin Pictures.
Soup is mostly based on the true story of Swathi Shetty (Konkona Sensharma), an inept cook who dreams of opening her restaurant someday, and her suspicious husband, Prabhakar (Manoj Bajpayee), who refuses to help her and has his suspicions. Soon after, fate provides her with an opportunity, and she begins to devise a grand plan. However, the broth is ruined by whimsical characters and amateur villains, and things do not go as planned.
Working with Netflix for Soup has been extremely exciting, and I'm pleased to share our narrative with fans all across the world," said Abhishek Chaubey, who returns to Netflix after Raat Akeli Hai and Ray. The filmmaker had a great time shooting Soup with Manoj, Konkona, and the rest of the cast and crew, and they can't wait to show off this eclectic group of characters.
The series also features Nasser, Sayaji Shinde, and Lal in pivotal roles. Soup is created by Abhishek Chaubey, Unaiza Merchant, Anant Tripathi, and Harshad Nalawade, and is produced by Honey Trehan and Chetana Kowshik.
Interestingly, Manoj and Konkona are sharing the screen space for the first time in the series. The actors are not new to the web series space, as they have been a part of The Family Man and Mumbai Diaries 26/11 respectively.
