Soundarya Rajinikanth, who has helmed Kochadaiiyaan and Velai Illa Pattadhari 2 in the past, is known for wearing several hats. She produced Goa long ago, worked as a graphic designer and appeared in a cameo in her father Rajinikanth's Kuselan one-and-a-half decades ago.

She has now come up with a surprise announcement that has left many stunned. Soundarya has turned a showrunner for a project that will be produced by May 6 Entertainment. Noah Abraham is at the helm of affairs for the project which went on floors today in Chennai.

Ashok Selvan plays the lead

Ashok, who is basking over the huge success of Por Thozhil, has been roped in to play the lead in the series that has been titled Gangs. Billed as an action drama, the series will drop on Amazon Prime next year. Soundarya has posted a few pics from the launch event on her social media page.

She is seen posing for photos along with Ashok and others in the stills. She also mentioned that the team has been working on the project for a few years and expressed excitement.

Ashok's next is Blue Star

The actor's next release is likely to be Blue Star which has been bankrolled by Pa Ranjith's Neelam Studios. S Jayakumar has directed the movie which revolves around cricket. Set in the 90s, it deals with the rivalry between two gangs in Arakkonam.

In an earlier chat with OTTplay, he said, "It has nostalgia and friendship, I'm sure the audience will be transported to another world." Ashok has shed 10 kilos to fit into the shoes of the character and has pinned high hopes on the film.
