Sounak Sen’s documentary goes to BAFTA, RRR out

All that Breathes was awarded the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize and the Golden Eye as the best documentary at the Cannes Film Festival. The documentary is also fighting for the Oscars.

Sounak Sen’s documentary All that Breathes has been nominated for the BAFTA 2023, with four others, for the best documentary section. Sounak revealed the news on 19 January.

The other four documentaries were All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, Fire of Love, Moonage Daydream, and Navalny. Previously, Sounak's film was longlisted at the BAFTA last month, with eight others. The documentary tells the story of two brothers, Md Saud and Nadeem Shehzad, who dedicated their lives to rescuing wounded birds in Delhi. These birds were wounded by black kites, as shown in the film.

Previously the documentary was awarded the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize and the Golden Eye as the best documentary at the Cannes Film Festival. The documentary is also fighting for the Oscar.

The 2023 BAFTA will be held on 19 February in the Southbank Centres Royals Festival Hall. On Thursday, the BAFTA authority announced the nominations for 24 categories, including best film, best director, best screenplay, etc. However, the film RRR, directed by Rajamouli, did not get a nomination in the best foreign films section.
