The movie will mark the actor’s second directorial after Parava, which also had Dulquer in a cameo
Soubin Shahir is all set to start directing his second film Othiram Kadakam, which has Dulquer Salmaan in the lead. The film, which was announced last year on the star’s birthday, has been delayed by a few months due to the pandemic and other commitments of Dulquer, but will go on floors soon.
Soubin took to his social networking page to announce the news. Earlier, the film was set to be shot in Pondicherry. Updates are awaited on if the team has changed the location with Kerala government now granting full permissions for shoot.
Dulquer had also played a cameo in Soubin’s directorial debut Parava , which released in 2017. In his social media post last year, Dulquer wrote that “I know in his hands I will discover characters and nuances I have never done before”. The star is also producing the movie.
Meanwhile Soubin’s film with Mammootty – Bheeshma Parvam – has already created records in the Kerala box office, with the film running to packed houses during the weekend. The movie, which is directed by Amal Neerad with whom Soubin had earlier worked as an assistant director, has the actor playing the nephew of Mammootty’s central character Michael.
Soubin has also completed shooting for Sidharth Bharathan’s Djinn and Manju Warrier-starrers Vellarikapattanam and Jack and Jill.
Dulquer, whose latest release is the Tamil romcom Hey Sinamika, will next be seen in Rosshan Andrrews’ Salute, an investigative thriller scripted by Bobby and Sanjay. The movie, which was earlier scheduled to release in theatres on January 13, was postponed. Now the actor, who is also producing the movie, confirmed that it will be a direct-to-OTT release on Sony LIV . The film is expected to drop on the platform this month.
The Kurup actor has also completed shooting for R Balki’s Chup and is currently completing his portions for Hanu Raghavapudi’s period love story, which also has Mrunal Thakur and Rashmika Mandanna.
