While Tovino Thomas and Soubin Shahir, who were earlier set to team up for Thallumala, won’t be seen together in the Khalid Rahman directorial, the duo will share screen space in director Lal Jr’s upcoming project.

OTTplay had earlier reported that Tovino and Lal Jr will be teaming up for a film that will go on floors next year. We now have it that Soubin Shahir has also been roped in to play a pivotal role in the movie, which is scripted by Suvin Somashekharan. Suvin is also the scriptwriter of the recent theatrical release Star, which has Joju George and Sheelu Abraham in the lead and featured Prithviraj Sukumaran in a cameo role.

The upcoming movie, which has Alby as its cinematographer and Yakzen Gary Periera and Neha Nair as its composers, will be an all-out, feel-good entertainer, according to a source from the team.

Lal Jr, who had helmed the superhit Driving Licence, had last year co-directed Tsunami with his father and actor Lal. The comedy, which is currently streaming on Neestream, was based on a true incident that had happened in actor Innocent’s life.

Tovino, meanwhile, is shooting for Thallumala, which has Keerthy Suresh playing its female protagonist. The movie, which revolves extensively in the Malabar region, focuses on his character from his college days to his 30s and is an out-and-out entertainer that is set for an Eid 2022 theatrical release.

The actor will be joining the sets of Lal Jr’s film after wrapping up the shoot of Manu G Raghav’s upcoming movie Vaashi that also has Keerthy Suresh and Jithin Lal’s big-budget period entertainer Ajayante Randam Moshanam, which has him in a triple role.
