Soubin Shahir and Navya Nair unite for Puzhu director’s next film; Here’s what we know

The switch-on ceremony of the project, titled Pathirathri, was held in Kochi today. As the tagline suggests, the film deals with the incidents involving two cops in one night.

Mammootty-starrer Puzhu’s director Ratheena has announced her next film, with Soubin Shahir and Navya Nair playing the lead roles. The switch-on ceremony for the project, titled Pathirathri, was held at Kochi today (June 10).

The screenplay for the movie was given to director Ratheena by scriptwriter Shaji Marad and director Shahi Kabeer. Soubin Shahir and Navya Nair presented the movie's title. K V Abdul Nazer is bankrolling the movie under the Benzy Productions' banner. This is the actress' second project with the production company; the first was Oruthee, which is currently available for streaming on Manorama Max.

All about Soubin Shahir’s Pathirathri

The movie is about two police officers going through an intriguing incident together on a single night, as the tagline implies. Shaji Marad, who won praise for his critically acclaimed film Ela Veezha Poonchira, wrote the screenplay for Pathirathri. In addition to Soubin and Navya Nair, the film features important roles for Sunny Wayne, Shabareesh Varma, and Ann Augustine. Shehnad Jalal is the film's cinematographer, and Jakes Bejoy will compose the soundtrack for the movie.

Ratheena’s Puzhu available on SonyLIV

The Malayalam film Puzhu marks Ratheena P T’s directorial debut. In the film, Mammootty and Parvathy Thiruvothu play pivotal roles. Critics gave the movie favourable reviews, praising Mammootty's performance in particular. The psychological drama is streaming on SonyLIV in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.

In the film, Kuttan, a senior IPS officer and widower who lives with his son Kichu, is the main character. Kichu feels choked by his father's authoritarian ways and excessive protectiveness. Kuttan begins to suspect everyone, believing that someone is out to get him. When his younger sister Bharati and her husband Kuttappan move into a nearby flat, it makes him even more paranoid. Due to her elopement with Kuttappan, a member of a caste that faces discrimination, Kuttan and Bharati have a tense relationship. Kuttan loses his sanity and becomes enraged due to his bigotry.
