Sorgavaasal update: RJ Balaji’s prison-set film trailer to drop on this date

RJ Balaji, the actor-filmmaker, is set to star in the upcoming Tamil film Sorgavaasal, scheduled for a theatrical release on November 29.

We had earlier reported that actor-filmmaker RJ Balaji will be starring in the upcoming Tamil film titled Sorgavasal. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on November 29, and ahead of this, the makers are planning to release the trailer on Saturday.

Actor and filmmaker RJ Balaji, who is known for his unique script choices, will be starring in the film Sorgavaasal. Ahead of its November 29 release, the trailer of the film will be dropped for the audience on Saturday.

Sorgavaasal is written and directed by Sidharth Vishwanath in his debut. He is the former assistant of director Pa Ranjith. Thamizh Praba, Ashwin Ravichandran and Sidharth Vishwanath have worked as the writers in the film. Others part of the technical crew consists of Prince Anderson as the cinematographer and Christo Xavier scoring the music. Selva RK is the editor.

The film is majorly set in a prison and is expected to be a dark and gritty film, which will show RJ Balaji in a never-before-seen avatar. Apart from RJ Balaji, the cast of the upcoming Tamil film also features Selvaraghavan, Natty, Karunaas, Saniya Iyappan, Sharaf-U-Dheen, Hakkim Shah, Balaji Sakthivel, Anthonythasan, Ravi Raghavendra, and Samuel Robinson. Netflix has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film.

RJ Balaji and Suriya team up for Suriya 45

Even before the release of Sorgavaasal, RJ Balaji has begun the production for his upcoming directorial featuring Suriya. Tentatively called Suriya 45, the film will have music by AR Rahman and is backed by Dream Warrier Pictures.

If rumours are indeed true, the film will also feature Trisha as the female lead, marking her reunion with Suriya after films like Aaru and Mounam Pesiyadhe. A release date for Suriya 45 is yet to be announced by the makers.

Meanwhile, RJ Balaji was last seen in Singapore Saloon which released earlier this year. The film is available on Prime Video.
