During the promotional event of Soppana Sundari, Aishwarya Rajesh called the film a refreshing change in her career. "I have been part of many serious films and my characters have mostly been pretty intense, too, which also involves a lot of crying. But, I had always wanted to try my hand at comedy. They say the most difficult thing to do in one's life is to make someone laugh. Once you are able to do that, you are a solid actor. I wanted to test waters in the genre and this film happened."

The actress added that while working in the film, the actress in her took a backseat. "The credit goes to the director. I just copied what Charles did before my shot. I hope he gets a great opening with the film and goes on to work with Superstar Rajinikanth himself."

The film's title is inspired from the scene in the 1989 film, Karagattakaran. The scene features ace comedians Goundamani and Senthil, who are part of a Karagattam group. Soon, a fight erupts between the two as they discuss the previous owners of their car, one of which happens to be actress Soppana Sundari.
