The supporting cast of Viduthalai includes Bhavani Sree, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, and Chetan, among others.
We had told you Vetrimaaran, whose last release was Dhanush's Asuran, was directing Viduthalai, with Soori in the lead. Amid speculation, it was then announced that Vijay Sethupathi had joined the cast.
Soori's workout video on the sets of Viduthalai has been doing the rounds on social media. With minimal equipment, he was making the best use of what was available outdoors. Viduthalai will be Soori’s first film in the lead role (as a cop), after nearly 20 years of his struggle in the industry.
Team Viduthalai was camped on Sirumalai hills for more than 50 days and is now in the final leg of shooting. Produced by Elred Kumar of RS Infotainment, who has produced successful films like Ko, Neethaane En Ponvasantham, and Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, Viduthalai will see Vijay Sethupathi’s character as the ‘Vaathiyaar’ (mentor) to Soori; the protagonist.
Notably, Viduthalai is the title of a 1986-Tamil film, which featured Sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth and Vishnuvardhan. The film was directed by K Vijayan.
The shooting of Viduthalai happened in the dense forests of Sathyamangalam where there was no electricity. According to the makers, the entire crew had stayed with the native tribal people during the filming phase. A source told OTTplay, "they had to encounter wild dogs, leeches, snakes and bison. An ambulance was in place along with a doctor, to provide medical aid in case of emergency, where they were shooting. It was wonderful to see Vijay Sethupathi perform stunts without a body double.”
Viduthalai will have a screenplay laced with “edge-of-the-seat thriller moments”. The supporting cast of Viduthalai includes Bhavani Sree, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, and Chetan, among others.
The film has cinematography by R Velraj, editing by R Ramar and stunt choreography by Peter Hein. Viduthalai is also the first time a Vetrimaaran movie will have a musical score by Ilaiyaraaja. The film has a total of three songs and one of them is sung by Dhanush.
Made over a massive budget of Rs 50 crore, Viduthalai will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.
Also, Vetrimaaran has Vaadivasal, in the pipeline, starring Suriya, besides a sequel to Vada Chennai. “Part 2 of Vada Chennai is very much on. Unless you see any official confirmation from my handle, please do not believe in rumours,” he had clarified on Twitter.
