Ruben Östlund's Triangle of Sadness is a must-see film that showcases the Swedish director's signature blend of humour and social commentary. With visually stunning scenes that are a hallmark of Ruben's filmmaking style (as seen in his previous works such as Force Majeure and The Square), the movie explores the fashion industry through a group of industry professionals on an expensive yacht. As the worlds of fashion and luxury clash with class society, the film's biting satire and well-crafted characters leave a lasting impression. The performances by the cast are exceptional, making this film a thought-provoking and unforgettable cinematic experience.

Purusha Pretham:

Purusha Pretham review: This satire flips all the tropes of police procedurals. A must watch

The movie follows the life of a bunch of cops, whose job description also involves guarding the dead bodies. In a rush job, a sub-inspector and his subordinate, who's on the verge of retirement, undermine the procedures laid out to deal with the cases of unidentified dead bodies. And there are further laps in burying a dead body and that comes back to haunt them in ways you could never imagine. This is another satire that will make you think about the austerities of life. Not just that this movie will also make you giggle, and laugh out loud, and would expand your ability for empathy. It's also an excellent thriller. Helmed by Krishand, Purusha Pretham is a police procedural drama that leans hard into its dark comedy.

Thuramukham:

The film sheds light on one of the darkest periods in the history of Kerala, based on true events. The central theme of the movie revolves around the Chappa system , a brutal labour recruitment practice that has plagued Kerala for generations. It explores the struggles and hardships faced by those who were victimised by this system and its inhumane practices. The film culminates in a gripping climax, showcasing a violent confrontation between workers and the police force, popularly known as the Mattancherry shootout. Nivin Pauly delivers an outstanding performance, and Rajeev Ravi's direction and cinematography add to the film's visual appeal. Poornima Indrajith and Nimisha Sajayan also give noteworthy performances. If you're looking for a movie that combines social commentary with top-notch performances and stunning visuals, then this is a must-watch.
