Sonu Sood made his entry into the film industry playing one of the villains opposite Vijayakanth in Kallazhagar, marking the beginning of a successful career in South Indian cinema.
Actor Sonu Sood on Thursday expressed his grief following the passing of iconic Tamil superstar Vijayakanth. He recalled how Vijayakanth played an instrumental role in launching his journey as an actor with the 1999 film Kallazhagar.
"Kallazgar my first film ever , was a gift from the legend “ VIJAYKANTH” sir.. He came across this still of mine and in no time I was filming with him.. I owe my career to him .. Will miss you so much sir. RIP CAPTAIN ," he tweeted.
Sonu Sood made his screen debut as one of the villains in Kallazhagar, led by Vijayakanth. In the film, he appears during a fight sequence to prevent Vijayakanth's Kamalakannan from preventing a bomb attack. Sonu Sood adopts the disguise of a priest and engages in a gripping fight with Kamalakannan. Notably, the highlight of the action-packed scene involves enemies soaking themselves in oil, allowing them to smoothly evade the hero's grasp.

Sonu Sood also shared a short clip of the aforementioned scene while sharing his condolence message. Following this film, Sonu Sood emerged as a popular face in the South Indian film industry. He became the much-sought-after actor to essay the antagonist roles in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada movies.

In the meantime, Vijayakanth's demise has left the Tamil film industry and political circles mourning the loss of a stalwart figure. Vijayakanth' is survived by his wife Premalatha and two sons. The final rites of the star will take place on Friday in Chennai.
