Sonu Sood has his name attached to two highly anticipated releases, both in South and North Indian cinema this year. The star essays pivotal roles in the Hindi period film Prithviraj as well as the Telugu action drama Acharya. Sood recently opened up about his experience working on the two films.

In conversation with Pinkvilla, Sood talked about how his Acharya co-star Chiranjeevi was a ‘great guy’, who was both ‘humble’ and ‘grounded’. The actor revealed that the film was shot in two phases- one before lockdown and the other after. Sood became hugely popular for his humanitarian efforts during the lockdown. He recalled how Chiranjeevi refused to beat the former up as the latter thought people would get angry for doing so. As a result, some of the action sequences had to be modified. Calling Acharya a ‘beautiful’ movie, Sood said he had a lot of fun shooting for it.

Calling working on Prithviraj one of the ‘most special experiences’, Sood said he loves period films as they offer a different challenge. Meanwhile, talking about his character Dr Chandrapakash Dwivedi, the actor informs that he is a brilliant historian with vast knowledge about his subject of expertise.

Acharya, written and directed by Koratala Siva, also features Ram Charan, Pooja Hegde and Kajal Aggarwal in pivotal roles. The film is produced under the banners of Matinee Entertainment and Konidela Productions.

Prithviraj is based on the story of the titular Indian king, with Akshay Kumar starring in the lead role. The film also features Manushi Chhillar, Sanjay Dutt, Ashutosh Rana, Sakshi Tanwar, Manav Vij and Lalit Tiwari in pivotal roles, with Chhillar making her Bollywood debut with the film. Directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, Prithviraj is produced under the banner of Yash Raj Films.

Acharya will hit theatres on April 29. Prithviraj is slated for release on June 3.
