The film, which will have Yashas Surya in the lead and Challenging Star Darshan in a pivotal role, will go on floors soon.
Kannada filmmaker Yogaraj Bhat’s upcoming project, Garadi, which will explore the local gymnasium culture with Yashas Surya in the lead, is getting a change in heroine. The commercial entertainer, which is being produced by actor-politico BC Patil, and has Challenging Star Darshan in an important role, was supposed to pair Rachita Ram with Yashas. However, the latest news is that Rachita, who is one of the busiest actresses in Kannada cinema at the moment, has scheduling issues and has, therefore, excused herself from the project. The film, which was launched in mid-November last year, is set to go on floors sometime this month, but Rachita, we hear, has prior commitments that she was unable to allot dates for Garadi.
The makers have already signed up a replacement, choosing Sonal Monteiro for the role. The actress has earlier worked with Yogaraj Bhat on his film with Vihaan Gowda, called Panchatantra. Sonal, who is now awaiting the release of Banaras, has films like Sugar Factory, Buddhivanta 2, among others in various stages of production. She is expected to join the team once shooting starts, with the film likely to be shot in locations across Patadkal, Badami and Aihole. V Harikrishna, who has worked with Yogaraj on films like Gaalipata, Paramathma, Drama, Vastu Prakara, Mugulu Nage and Panchatantra is back as composer for Garadi.
The film is Yashas’ third collaboration with Yogaraj, which will see the actor undergo a mass image makeover, including long hair and beard. The actor will next be seen in Ganesh’s Tribble Riding. Yogaraj, meanwhile, is gearing up for the release of his next directorial, Gaalipata 2, which stars Ganesh, Pawan Kumar, Diganth, Sharmiela Mandre, Vaibhavi Shandilya and Samyuktha Menon.
