Sonakshi Sinha and Riteish Deshmukh's film Kakuda was announced in 2021. Three years later, director Aditya Sarpotdar has shared an update about the movie.

Filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar is enjoying positive feedback to his horror comedy Munjya. Starring Sharvari, Abhay Verma, and Mona Singh in the lead roles, the film had its theatrical release on June 7. While Munjya continues to run in cinemas, Aditya is ready to shift focus on his other horror comedy, Kakuda. The film was officially announced in 2021 with Sonakshi Sinha and Riteish Deshmukh in the lead roles. Cut to now, Aditya has an update about the film's release.

Aditya Sarpotdar's upcoming film Kakuda is based on Indian folklore. However, the director told Mid-Day that the film's storyline and character details are currently under wraps. Spilling beans about Kakuda's possible release this year, Sarpotdar added, "We are looking to release the film in the next two or three months. Until now, we have not decided the platform on which the film will be released."

Ronnie Screwvala has produced Kakuda under his production banner RSVP Movies whereas Chirag Garg and Avinash Diwedi have written the film. The film also stars Saqib Saleem in a pivotal role. In an official statement, Aditya earlier mentioned he was excited to collaborate with Ronnie. He revealed that they were treating the film like a big-scale commercial movie.

Riteish Deshmukh on Kakuda

When an official announcement of Kakuda was made, Riteish Deshmukh said, "I can't wait to jump right in and work on the film with Sonakshi and Saqib. I personally love the horror-comedy genre and 'Kakuda' is a great opportunity for me to explore the part of a ghostbuster." Sonakshi Sinha added that she loved the script of Kakuda from the moment she read it. The actress quipped that it is a film that she would enjoy watching as an audience.
