Solo Leveling

The Jinwoo vs Vulcan fight has finally happened, and it was definitely worth the wait. Vulcan was nothing like the monster he looked. If Sakamoto were to become a villain guarding demons, that would be Vulcan. But, Sung Jin-woo being the master in levelling up, he conquered the big battle with almost some ease. Of course, this was the time when his capabilities as a hunter were tested more than ever before. Here’s decoding what the fight was like…

Jinwoo’s Demon Castle quest

Jinwoo has a quest - it is to collect the souls of demons from a dungeon. He needs to collect 10,000 demon souls to pass this quest.

Just as he gets confident about conquering the demons, the ice bear pack leader comes to his help, making for a perfect war companion, given his speed and vigour. Thus, this leader now has a name - Tank. This is because he has similar traits to war tanks.

Jinwoo, who believes he could pass as an S-rank already, thought he was assigned a dungeon meant for the very rank. He, however, got disappointed when the demons he fought were on the upper hand on B-rank. This comes from someone who is still considered E-rank.

Nonetheless, Jinwoo is aware that the demons will get stronger and he might need external help in eliminating all of them. With a plan and strategic planning, Jinwoo keeps winning, completing each of the 100 floors one after the other. Now, though, it is a battle not just against the demons but also against time.

Introducing Vulcan, a gigantic monster with speed and vigour

After successfully completing the task of collecting 10000 demons, Igris and his shadow army return to Jinwoo's side. They arrive right when Jinwoo faces his big threat - Avaricious Vulcan. And he's just the lord of the lower floors. This battle goes down on the 50th floor.

On seeing Vulcan, Jinwoo decides that his shadow army, including Idris, can deal with the demon army, but Vulcan is to be left behind for Jinwoo. With that order, the shadow army charges over.

Just as Vulcan leaves Jinwoo confused with him sitting there like a king with his gigantic body not moving even as the battle progresses. Jinwoo decides to take charge, when in a flash, Vulcan is gone from his seat. This definitely leaves Jinwoo surprised and before he knows it, Vulcan picks up his weapon to attack the shadow army, who look like ants from Vulcan's angle. As one can already expect, the ground shook, there's mud all around with the attack. That is when Jinwoo sees his chance for a surprise attack too, and without a second thought, he goes for it, fist-to-fist, with no fear in his eyes. Jinwoo pushes Vulcan ahead as revenge for the attack. The level of his attack leaves Sung Jinwoo just as surprised, for it appears that Vulcan flew right by the buildings. And while he did, this is Vulcan we're talking about. He wakes up after taking such an attack, just as fast.

Jinwoo summons Iron

Vulcan reminds Jinwoo of the A-rank magic beast Cerberus (covered in season 1). Vulcan comes back to charge and Jinwoo takes control by summoning Iron, a weapon that can shield him from Vulcan's strong attack. Underestimating Vulcan, Jinwoo is scared that his shield will be broken and starts re-strategizing. He waits for an opening and on seeing it, jumps right in. But announcing his attack does more harm than good. Reading that his Ruler's Hand level is now on level 2, Jinwoo is surprised but tries it out instantly. Unfortunately, Vulcan is faster and anticipates the move, forcing Jinwoo to retreat temporarily.

Vulcan defeated and Jeju Island monster teased

Now, Jinwoo goes for the only vulnerable part of Vulcan - his eyes. Vulcan crashes into the building, when Jinwoo goes for the attack. He aims for the head and his guess is spot-on. Vulcan has died. With it, Vulcan's club is now in Jinwoo's possession. From thereon, Jinwoo collects the guide of souls, Metus, on the 75th floor. With that, Jinwoo leaves - with a promise to come back and complete the other 25 floors in order to get the elixir of life that can save his ailing mother.

The Jeju Island monster is teased, and the surprise is revealed by none other than Jinwoo's father, who has been researching in the field for years at an end.
