Sobhita Dhulipala was recently seen in Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2. She will next be seen in The Night Manager Part 2 and Made in Heaven Season 2.
After beginning her film career in Anurag Kashyap's Raman Raghav alongside Vicky Kaushal, Shobhita Dhulipala found her big break in Zoya Akhtar's Made in Heaven. Her subsequent work includes films like Ponniyin Selvan and The Night Manager.
During a recent interview with ETimes, the actor was asked if she tries to select roles that are reflective of her identity and culture because she is from Andhra Pradesh. To which Sobhita stated her position on diversity and inclusion by disclosing that she grew up in Vizag and relocated to Mumbai only 13–14 years ago. She has transitioned from Telugu to Hindi and is currently disoriented as to her place of origin.
The actor said that they are all the sum of their experiences, and they are also the sum of the experiences they hope to have. That's why she doesn't believe there's a single person who stands for anything. As a result, she thinks the concept of identity is fluid. There are no limits, and the scope is unclear. Sobhita's past self is vastly different from her present self. And if, in the future, she becomes a different person, that will be a boon. It also indicates that she is receptive to the positive aspects of life and takes them in. And she, too, is adapting to the times.
Character-wise, all Sobhita recalls from the Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi films she saw as a kid were the heartfelt performances and hilarious one-liners. As a kid, the actor never learned Hindi. She would love to contribute to a greater story with emotional resonance. The Made in Heaven actor doesn't know what the silent films that have no dialogue are trying to depict, and she doesn't know what the fantastical films like Harry Potter are trying to represent, if not the truth of human feelings. Film characters should stand in for universal ideas like love, loss, regret, and hope. She doesn't think people's identities should be set in stone.
