The first teaser of Sly offers a glimpse into that foray that the docu.project promises to make into the actor/filmmaker's glorious life.
After capturing Arnold Schwarzenegger's eventful life in a three-part documentary series, Netflix has shifted its focus to a similarly compelling American celebrity story with Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone as its subject.
'Sly', the new and upcoming Netflix original comes as a profile of Sly Stallone's incredible career that begins a little before he secured his first starring role in a softcore porno in 1970. Following a series of proper starring roles that he landed over the next couple of years, Stallone would become famous worldwide for playing the character Rocky Balboa in John G. Avildsen's 1976 film Rocky. Stallone himself created the character and wrote the film's screenplay and took charge of his destiny, so to speak, and emerged a bona fide superstar. Rocky would go on to be a major film franchise with six instalments and three other spin-offs as part of the Creed series.

Some of Stallone's other major credits include the Rambo film series, Cobra, Cliffhanger, Demolition Man, The Specialist and The Expendables film franchise.
The first teaser of Sly offers a glimpse into that foray that the docu. project promises to make into the actor/filmmaker's glorious life. "Do I have regrets? Hell yeah, I have regrets," says Stallone in the teaser to suggest that he will take us through his life through an unembellished first-hand account, much like his box office rival Arnold Schwarzenegger did in 'Arnold'.
“For nearly 50 years, Sylvester Stallone has entertained millions with iconic characters and blockbuster franchises, from ‘Rocky’ to ‘Rambo’ to ‘The Expendables.’ This retrospective documentary offers an intimate look at the Oscar-nominated actor-writer-director-producer, paralleling his inspirational underdog-story with the indelible characters he has brought to life.”
Sly has been directed by Thom Zimny (The Gift: The Journey of Johnny Cash, Springsteen on Broadway) and is part of Netflix's potentially longer Hollywood Nostalgia series. It is set to debut on the platform in November 2023.
