Skanda, which was released in cinemas on September 28 across the world, is set for its OTT release next week.
Director Boyapati Sreenu's latest Telugu actioner Skanda is all set for its OTT premiere. The movie starring Ram Pothineni in the lead will arrive on Disney+Hotstar on October 27.
An official announcement from the streaming platform, however, is awaited.
Skanda mixed reviews
Skanda was released in cinemas on September 28 across the world. Originally planned for an October 20 theatrical release, the film's schedule was adjusted when the release of Telugu superstar Prabhas' much-anticipated movie Salaar faced delays. September 28, known as one of the industry's strong release dates, was then chosen for Skanda.

Skanda arrived in cinemas riding on the back of a strong buzz. However, it garnered mixed reactions from the critics, which was typical for a Boyapati Sreenu directorial. Boyapati Sreenu's movie rarely finds wide acceptance among critics. His films are often known for their unapologetic portrayal of violence and tend to divide critical opinions.
Skanda box office performance
Similarly, Skanda failed to impress the critics. But, it also seemingly failed to click with the masses, its intended audiences. The movie did not perform as expected in terms of global box office collections. The movie reportedly cost a whopping Rs 90 crore to its producers. To achieve a hit status at the box office, it must have recouped its complete budget in worldwide ticket sales. However, the movie only managed to earn a little over Rs 57 crore.

The collection figures didn't meet the trade expectations given that it received a wide release in multiple languages. Besides the original Telugu version, Skanda was also simultaneously released in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi languages.
Judging from the trailer, it's clear that Skanda is a typical Boyapati Sreenu's action drama replete with plenty of over-the-top action sequences and dialogue. Besides Ram Pothineni, the movie also stars Sreeleela, Saiee Manjrekar and Prince Cecil.
