Netflix has dropped the first teaser for its upcoming anime series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off based on the beloved comic book series that inspired the 2010 film. The teaser offers a glimpse of the anime’s dynamic adaptation, revealing the title and release date which is November 17 on Netflix. The show promises to capture the chaotic energy of the comics, following Scott Pilgrim as he battles seven powerful evil ex-lovers to win the heart of his dream girl.

The eight-episode format suggests a more comprehensive exploration of the Scott Pilgrim universe and the trailer drops major hints at exciting new elements. What’s truly remarkable is the return of the original movie’s all-star cast to lend their voices to the series. Notable cast members include Michael Cera, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Brie Larson, and more.

Disney Accused of Withholding Profits by Financier of 'Avatar: The Way of Water'

TSG Entertainment, a major investor in films with over $3 billion in stakes, has launched a surprising lawsuit against Disney. The lawsuit alleges that Disney used deceptive accounting methods to unfairly withhold a substantial amount of money from TSG Entertainment. Notably, TSG backed significant productions, including last year's blockbuster Avatar: The Way of Water directed by James Cameron which has now become the third highest-grossing film in history.

The lawsuit, filed on Tuesday, claims that Disney utilised a range of tactics from the ‘Hollywood Accounting playbook’ to deny TSG Entertainment hundreds of millions of dollars related to its investments. The suit names Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation and Walt Disney as defendants, despite the current name of the Disney-owned entity being 20th Century Studios. Allegations also involve Disney’s decision to shift Fox films from a profitable HBO licensing deal to its own platforms, Disney+ and Hulu, a move considered as ‘self-dealing’.

With TSG having invested over $3.3 billion in over 100 films, including major hits like Bohemian Rhapsody and Deadpool the lack of expected income impacted their ability to support high-value projects like films in the Avatar franchise. This, in turn, resulted in potential loss of profits on the backend.

The OTT world is tilting towards stars: Konkona Sen Sharma

One of the most acclaimed actresses who has shone in all forms of storytelling, Konkona Sen Sharma recently voiced a concern about the casting preferences in the OTT space in an interview. Having directed one of the stories in Netflix’s Lust Stories 2, the actress has been applauded for her performances in OTT releases such as Ajeeb Daastaans and Mumbai Diaries 26/11.

The 43-year-old actress expressed concerns over the obsession with casting stars over those who were truly talented in OTT releases. In an interview, she said, “Financiers want stars. While some are undeniably talented, some might not be as talented. Yet, the OTT world is tilting towards them.”

This could be an indirect jab at star kids who are often accused of landing meaty roles or an unrelated observation about the churn in the OTT industry. Veteran Malayalam superstar Mammootty to star in Rahul Sadivasan’s Bramayugam

Malayalam superstar Mammootty, who has been known for his critically-acclaimed films, has been cast in Rahul Sadivasan’s Bramayugam. The 71-year-old star took to social media to announce the film and share the film’s poster which depicts a man approaching a spooky mansion. Bramayugam is slated to be a pan-India release and is reported to be released in five languages. Sadivasan is best known for helming Bhoothakaalam starring Shane Nigam and Revathi.
