‘Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire’ to release in over 5000 locations overseas

Bahubali star Prabhas is set to star in the highly-anticipated Telugu film Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire. The film recently released its first-look trailer and reportedly broke viewership records amassing over 100 million views within hours of its release. It has now been revealed that the film will be released in over 5000 overseas locations, including 1979 locations in North America. The makers have claimed that this marks an all-time record for any Indian release. The action thriller directed by Prashanth Neel also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Shruti Haasan among others in prominent roles.

Ben Wheatley to expand the ‘Meg’ franchise after the third film

Meg 2: The Trench, the sequel to the 2018 sci-fi thriller film The Meg, is set to release in theatres on August 4th this year. Jason Statham reprises his role as Jonas Taylor, the man who is tasked with stopping a Megalodon shark that is wreaking havoc across the oceans. Director Ben Wheatley has confirmed that he is already in discussions for a third film, as he believes that the franchise has a rich world to explore. And fans of blood-curdling thrillers would like to strongly concur with this.

Christopher Nolan will not direct any more superhero films

Christopher Nolan’s highly-anticipated film Oppenheimer is set to release in theatres this weekend. Nolan revealed during the media trailer for the film that he will never helm a TV project. When quizzed about potentially directing a superhero film in the future, the celebrated filmmaker replied with a firm “no’. The news will be disheartening for superhero fans as Nolan is credited with The Dark Knight trilogy, which is considered by many as the best superhero franchise of all time.  However, Nolan refused to provide a definitive answer as to whether he will direct a Star Wars film in the future. Let’s just say we can’t get enough of Nolan’s works on the big screen.

'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3'  announces streaming release date on Disney+

DC co-head James Gunn’s final Marvel project was the blockbuster hit Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The film was recently released on video-on-demand across the globe and it appears it is heading to Disney+  soon. Amidst a series of lacklustre releases from both Marvel and DC in recent years, the third entry of the Guardians of the Galaxy was a universal success. It has been revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will premiere on August 2 on Disney+ and on Disney+ Hotstar in India.

Taylor Sheridan’s 'Special Ops: Lioness' is based on a true story

Actor and filmmaker Taylor Sheridan, who is best known for helming Wind River and creating the Yellowstone franchise, is set to release his next major TV series. Titled Special Ops: Lioness, the series stars Avatar and Guardians of the Galaxy star Zoe Saldana in the lead, along with Academy Award-winners Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman. The series is based on a real-life U.S. military program and revolves around a female marine raider who is roped in by the CIA to befriend the daughter of a terrorist in order to carry out his assassination. Special Ops: Lioness will premiere on July 23 on Paramount+ and simultaneously on JioCinema in India.

'Heartstopper' Season 2 reveals first look images of upcoming season

The critically-acclaimed coming-of-age Netflix romantic drama series, Heartstopper has released first-look images of its second season, thus revealing the final cast. The show’s plot revolves around teens Nick and Charlie who realise that their friendship could be something more. The new images for the second season feature new cast members along with returning cast members of the hit TV show. The acclaimed British series is helmed by Alice Oseman, and it is based on Oseman’s novel of the same name. Heartstopper Season 2 will premiere on Netflix on August 3.
