Cinema halls offer buy-one-get-one-ticket-free for Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse
It was reported that a free ticket was offered for every ticket purchase for the latest Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan film Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. The move reportedly boosted ticket sales of the romantic comedy, which already boasted steady box-office numbers. Now it appears that the critically-acclaimed animated film, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, has followed suit and is enticing moviegoers with the same offer. The sequel to the Academy Award-winning 2018 film broke the record for the highest opening for an animated film in India when it was released last week.
Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi reportedly cast in new Ramayana adaptation
Nitesh Tiwari's highly anticipated adaptation of Ramayana, starring Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor and Premam actress Sai Pallavi has been put on hold as per various reports. Tiwari will instead focus his attention on another project which was announced earlier this year. Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan were also reportedly cast in the project. The news comes as another Ramayana adaptation, Adipurush, starring Prabhas, is gearing up for its imminent release on June 16th.
A docuseries on the killer who inspired ‘Psycho’and ‘Silence of the Lambs’
A four-part docuseries is in the works at MGM+ based on the notorious serial killer Ed Gein. Titled, Psycho: The Lost Tapes of Ed Gein, the series will focus on the infamous criminal, who has been the subject of several documentaries in the past. Often referred to as the “The Mad Butcher” and “The Plainfield Ghoul”, Gein has also been the inspiration behind iconic films such as Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Silence of the Lambs.
'Captain America 4' gets a new title
The fourth instalment of the highly anticipated Captain America film from Marvel has a new title. The film was originally titled Captain America: New World Order, and it has now been renamed Captain America: Brave New World. The decision is reportedly to negate any misconceptions about the phrase "new world order", as it is linked with anti-semitism. The new title could be a homage to Aldous Huxley’s iconic dystopian novel Brave New World. Lead star Anthony Mackie announced the new title and also shared an image of Harrison Ford as Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross. Ford will also appear as Ross next year in the Marvel film Thunderbolts.
Bryan Singer financing a documentary to address allegations of sexual assault against him
Hollywood filmmaker Bryan Singer who is best known for helming blockbuster hits such as X-Men and Bohemian Rhapsody, has announced a self-financed documentary about himself. The documentary is designed to address the sexual misconduct allegations levelled against him, dating back to the 90s. The disgraced director hopes to revive his career with this documentary and already has several indie projects lined up.
Zack Snyder to release two cuts of Rebel Moon
Zack Snyder’s Synderverse is coming to a bitter-sweet end at DC and Warner Bros, but the filmmaker appears to have moved on to other projects. His upcoming Netflix original film Rebel Moon is scheduled to release on 22nd December this year. The story is set in the distant future at the edge of the galaxy where a peaceful colony comes under the autocracy of a tyrant. The film stars Sofia Boutella, Ray Fisher, Charlie Hunnam, Ed Skrein, Djimon Hounsou, and Anthony Hopkins in pivotal roles. Snyder has confirmed that the film will have two versions – a family-friendly cut and an R-rated cut.
