Rajshri Productions announces new film inspired by ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’
Rajshri Productions, the studio behind the iconic Salman Khan starrer romantic drama Maine Pyar Kiya, has announced that it is developing a new film titled, Dono. The film is said to be inspired by the 1989 film, which marked the debut for both leads Khan and Bhagyashree. Dono will be directed by Sooraj Barjatya’s son Avnish S. Barjatya. While the lead roles haven’t been cast yet, we’re told that they would be roping in promising debutants.
Vijay Varma to play a cop in ‘Kaalkoot’
Actor Vijay Varma, who recently starred in the hit Netflix film Lust Stories 2, is set to play the lead in the crime drama TV series Kaalkoot. The series will be a JioCinema original helmed by Sumit Saxena. Varma will slip into the role of righteous cop – a far cry from the actor’s morally grey on-screen avatars in recent shows. In an interview, the actor remarked that he is on the ‘right side of the law for a change”. Kaalkoot is set to release on JioCinema on 27 July 2023.
Prerna Arora wants to make a biopic on Narendra Modi and hopes to cast Amitabh Bachchan to play the PM
Bollywood producer Prerna Arora, best known for films such as Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Pari is in talks to make a biopic on Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. According to reports, Arora is keen on casting Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan to play the lead role. If the biopic does get the green light, it will be the third film biopic on the Prime Minister after the Vivek Oberoi film PM Modi and the TV series titled Modi where Mahesh Thakur played the eponymous lead.
‘John Wick’ spinoff series 'The Continental' announces release date
The highly-anticipated John Wick spinoff series, The Continental, is a prequel to the films and it is set in the 1970s. Developed by Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward and Shawn Simmons, the series stars Colin Woodell in the lead, with Hollywood veteran Mel Gibson playing the antagonist. Woodell will essay the role of a younger version of Ian McShane’s character, Winston Scott. The series will premiere on 23 September 2023 on Peacock and Amazon Prime Video internationally.
Greta Gerwig terrified to helm Netflix’s 'Chronicles of Narnia'
Greta Gerwig’s Barbie released in theatres this week, going head-to-head with Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Gerwig, who was once renowned for her indie projects, has now become a mainstream Hollywood filmmaker. She recently signed a deal with Netflix to reboot the iconic Chronicles of Narnia, the franchise based on C S Lewis’ fantasy novels. In a recent interview, she revealed that she is terrified of the prospect of adapting the popular story. However, she also revealed that she hopes to tackle a variety of new challenging projects once she has wrapped up Narnia.
'American Psycho' to be adapted into a comic book
Christian Bale’s iconic role as the sociopathic killer Patrick Bateman, in the cult classic film gggg American Psycho, has become widely popular on social media recently thanks to the abundance of memes and reels created around the character. It has now been revealed that the film is being adapted into a four-issue comic book by an LA-based publisher Sumerian. The rights for the film and the rights to use Bale’s likeness have been acquired by the publisher, to create a sequel to the film. The story will reportedly have two narratives – one showing Bateman’s killing spree from a different perspective, and another set in the modern-day. It will also introduce a new female character named Charlie, who leaves a bloody trail of bodies after a drug-fuelled party goes wrong. American Psycho #1 will be released on October 11th, 2023.
