Netflix cancels The Brothers Sun’ after one season despite critical acclaim

Netflix has decided to pull the plug on The Brothers Sun after its first season, despite receiving critical acclaim and boasting star-studded performances. The Michelle Yeoh-led drama, which premiered in January 2024, had a solid eight-episode run but struggled to attract a substantial audience. The show, revolving around two brothers in a dangerous gangster family, featured impressive performances from breakout stars Justin Chien and Sam Song Li, alongside Yeoh. Despite positive reviews and spending weeks in Netflix's Top 10, the series failed to garner enough viewership, leading to its cancellation. The Oscar-winner Yeoh has other promising projects lined up, including a Star Trek spinoff and participation in James Cameron's upcoming Avatar instalment.

Dune: Part Two dominates the global box office with $178 million opening weekend

In a triumphant debut, Dune: Part Two directed by Denis Villeneuve, raked in an impressive $178 million globally during its opening weekend, surpassing its predecessor's box office numbers. The film earned approximately $81 million domestically in the US and an additional $97 million from over 70 international markets. The remarkable opening positions Dune: Part Two as a major success, outshining Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer which generated $174 million in its global opening. With exceptional reviews, a 94% Rotten Tomatoes score, and an A CinemaScore, the movie is expected to continue its success, as it opens in China and Japan. Starring Timothée Chalamet, the film is the second instalment of Frank Herbert's iconic trilogy of novels, and it solidifies Chalamet's status as a box office draw.

The trailer, released on March 1, teases a rollercoaster of madness, laughter, and entertainment, promising an uproarious and charming experience. Directed by Smeep Kang and produced by Humble Motion Pictures, the film boasts a stellar cast, including Gippy Grewal, Sonam Bajwa, and Kavita Kaushik, supported by Gurpreet Ghuggi, Nasir Chinyoti, Jaswinder Bhalla, B.N. Sharma, and Karamjit Anmol.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas unveils next Hollywood venture ‘The Bluff’ with Karl Urban

Bollywood and Hollywood star Priyanka Chopra Jonas is set to headline the upcoming film The Bluff alongside Karl Urban, the star of the hit Prime Video series The Boys. Directed by Frank E. Flowers, the 19th-century Caribbean-set movie portrays Priyanka as a former female pirate forced to protect her family from her past sins. The project, co-written by Flowers and Joe Ballarini, is backed by AGBO, with Anthony and Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, Michael Disco, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas as producers. This collaboration marks Priyanka's second project with the Russo brothers after the spy-thriller series Citadel. The Bluff is slated for release on Amazon Prime.
