Kamal Haasan to team up with H Vinoth for political thriller
Veteran Tamil star Kamal Haasan has confirmed that he is set to collaborate with Valimai and Thunivu director H. Vinoth for a new film. The political film will be produced by Haasan’s production house Raaj Kamal Films International and Turmeric Media. The actor made the announcement on social media and is tentatively titled KH233, to mark Haasan’s 233rd film. Meanwhile, the veteran actor will be next seen in Indian 2 directed by S. Shankar.
Premam director Alphonse Puthren announces next film
Alphonse Puthren, who is best known for directing the blockbuster hit Premam, has announced his next project. The Malayalam filmmaker is set to helm a Tamil film, titled Gift and Puthren announced the news on social media. The film features an ensemble cast comprising Sandy, Kovai Sarala, Sahana Sarvesh, Sampath Raj, Raahul, Charlie, and Raichal Rebecca among others. The filmmaker also announced that the music of the film will be composed by legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja.
CBC and BBC Studios announce new dark comedy ‘ The Orange’
Dave Thomas, the star of the hit ‘70s sketch comedy series Second City Television, also known as SCTV, is developing a new dark comedy series. He will team up with his son Harrison Thomas for the series titled The Orange. The show will be developed by CBC and BBC Film Studios, and it will be a half-hour episodic about a family in witness protection living in a street rife with hardened criminals, who also happen to be in witness protection. Further details about the series have been kept under wraps. But we’re certain that this one’s going to be a riot.
Ken Loach's final film reveals first trailer
Acclaimed British filmmaker Ken Loach, who is best known for his thought-provoking films such as The Wind That Shakes Barley and I, Daniel Blake, is set to release his final film. Titled The Old Oak, the film narrates the story of a struggling pub owner who befriends a refugee, sparking a transformative journey of self-discovery, friendship, and empathy. The film premiered at Cannes earlier this year and is set to release in theatres on 29th September.
'Superman: Legacy' will skip Superman’s origin story, James Gunn confirms
DC Films co-head James Gunn recently announced that David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will play Superman and Lois Lane in the upcoming Superman reboot film Superman: Legacy. The film will be helmed by Gunn himself, and the filmmaker has provided an update on the film’s plot. Gunn has confirmed that Superman’s origin story as a young Clark Kent will not feature in his film. The film is scheduled to release on 11th July 2025.
Seth Rogen provides update on ‘Sausage Party’ sequel series
Actor and filmmaker Seth Rogen recently revealed that Sausage Party: Foodtopia the sequel series to the film Sausage Party, will be more controversial than the original. The series about a supermarket world of anthropomorphic food is being developed for Amazon Prime Video by Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Rogen revealed that the jokes are provocative and “unbelievably shocking”, and he will reprise his role in the series along with Kristen Wiig, Michael Cera, David Krumholtz, and Edward Norton. They will be joined by new cast members Will Forte, Sam Richardson, Natasha Rothwell, and Yassir Lester, and the series is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video next year.
