The public continues to be incredibly appreciative of Sivakarthikeyan's Ayalaan, which is successfully running in theatres on its fifth day of release. The film, which is directed by R Ravikumar, hit the big screen on January 12. With its first-day earnings of approximately Rs 11 crore, the science fiction movie has amassed over Rs 50 crore in total worldwide.

The majority of the movie's revenue came from Tamil Nadu, where families chose to watch the movie to celebrate Pongal and the long weekend. This put the movie in direct competition with other Pongal and Sankranthi releases, including Dhanush's Captain Miller and the Telugu movies Guntur Kaaram, HanuMan, and Saindhav.

Thanks to its humorous moments and appealing visuals, families—especially children—have been praising the movie, calling it a fun watch for this festive season.

"Extraterrestrial excitement is sweeping through every corner," was the tagline the film's creators posted online to express their joy over the movie's box office performance. On their social media pages, they have also shared excerpts from favourable reviews from all around the country.

Ayalaan centres on a young man named Tamizh, who makes friends with an extraterrestrial named Tattoo. He finds out that Aryan, a scientist, is attempting to use an enigmatic element called Sparc to extract a deadly Nova gas, putting Earth in jeopardy.
