The actor will next be seen in Madonne Ashwin's Maveeran,
Sivakarthikeyan
One of the Tamil movies which drew audiences to theatres after the second lockdown was Doctor (streaming on Netflix), starring Sivakarthikeyan in the titular role. The dark comedy went on to become a huge hit despite 50 percent occupancy and impressed critics as well.
The actor continued his success streak with Don (streaming on Netflix) which was released after a few months. The coming-of-age drama, too, garnered good response and ended up as his highest grosser. There were good expectations when he announced his next project, Prince (streaming on Hotstar), with Anudeep who helmed the runaway hit Jathi Ratnalu in Telugu.
But the bilingual movie ended up as a colossal failure, thanks to weak screenplay, unengaging characters and lukewarm conflict. The film which was expected to set the cash registers ringing during Deepavali festival left moviegoers disappointed. Siva received criticism for his choice of script and the movie was heavily trolled on social media.
We now hear that the actor has decided to refund the losses distributors across Tamil Nadu have incurred. It is heard that he will be settling the losses in the coming days. This gesture of his is winning praise from film buffs even as they are awaiting his next outing.
Madonne Ashwin's Maveeran is his next outing; the action drama is expected to be released in March. Amazon Prime has bagged the film's digital rights a while ago. The movie's story revolves around an artist whose dreams become true. Aditi Shankar will be seen essaying the female lead in the project.
Ramkumar's long-pending sci-fi film Ayalaan and Rajkumar Periyasamy's untitled movie are the actor's other forthcoming projects. Rakul Preet and Sai Pallavi are playing female leads in the films respectively.
