Sivakarthikeyan expressed his eagerness to share the screen space with Superstar Rajinikanth, should the opportunity present itself.
Speculations were rife about director Lokesh Kanagaraj's approaching Sivakarthikeyan to play a key role in his next directorial venture starring Superstar Rajinikanth. While the media reports had excited fans of both the actors, it seems there is little truth to it. During the promotions of Ayalaan, Sivakarthikeyan confirmed that he has not been approached for Thalaivar 171 yet.
"I also read it in news reports but nothing has been confirmed," he clarified.
Sivakarthikeyan is a self-proclaimed fan of Rajinikanth and he expressed his eagerness to share the screen space with the Superstar, should the opportunity present itself.

"I am always ready to take up the opportunity to act with Thalaivar. I would not even worry about the length of the character. Even if it's for a single scene, I am ready," he said.
Sivakarthikeyan noted that Rajinikanth is his biggest inspiration both on and off the screen, adding he has learned a lot of lessons from him since he entered the film industry. "What more a fanboy can ask for than sharing the screen space with him?" he asked.
At the moment, Lokesh Kanagaraj is still in the process of scripting Thalaivar 171. Bankrolled by Sun Pictures, the film will go on the floors early next year.
Lokesh has already confirmed that Thalaivar 171 is not related to his cinematic universe popularly known as LCU. He noted that he's pretty thrilled about the film, describing it as a "very experimental attempt." We have little information about the movie's genre or the plot. The producers have also not officially shared the details of the star cast yet.

So we can only hope that Lokesh creates a compelling narrative that could accommodate even Sivakarthikeyan in it.
In the meantime, Sivakarthikeyan is busy promoting what can be described as his ambitious project Ayalaan. The film is a sci-fi drama that revolves around an alien, who accidentally wanders into Chennai.
Ayalaan is set to hit the screens on January 12 2024, coinciding with the Pongal festival.
