The film will mark Maveeran actor's 23rd project and his maiden collaboration with AR Murugadoss
Sivakarthikeyan is all set to join forces with ace director AR Murugadoss for his next. The Maaveeran actor made the announcement on his social media handle today on the occasion of the filmmaker's birthday.
SK 23 to be helmed by AR Murugadoss
Sivakarthikeyan dropped a couple of pictures on his social media handle in which is seen conversing with the director. Calling the film, a special one in his career, Sivakarthikeyan wrote, "Dear @ARMurugadoss sir, Wishing you a very happy birthday sir Sir I’m extremely delighted to join with you for my 23rd film and I'm double delighted after listening to your narration. This film is going to be very special for me in all aspects and I can’t wait to start filming. Thank you so much sir and once again happy happy birthday sir (sic)."
The film, which is tentatively being referred to as SK 23 marks the maiden collaboration between Sivakarthikeyan and AR Murugadoss. Actor Kavin was one of the first to wish the duo on the new collaboration. He replied to Sivakarthikeyan's message, "Big congratulations nae (sic)."
The comeback film of AR Murugadoss?
There have been rumours about the duo collaborating for a film but today's announcement has sealed the deal. AR Murugadoss's last outing was August 16, 1947, which was set around the Indian Independence from the British. The film, which starred Gautham Karthik in the lead, opened to mixed reviews. The film also didn't quite make a dent at the box office.
AR Murugadoss's last hit was Superstar Rajinikanth's Darbar (2020). The filmmaker has not had any major releases in the last three years and hence, this film is considered to be his comeback.
Sivakarthikeyan is busy with SK 21
In the meantime, Sivakarthikeyan is currently shooting for SK 21. The actor plays an Army officer in the film, which is predominantly set in Kashmir. The film, which stars Sai Pallavi as the leading lady, is directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy and is bankrolled by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International.
