Sivakarthikeyan and Priyanka Mohan's Don crosses $300K in USA

Sivakarthikeyan's recent release Don has crossed $300K in the US, according to trade reports. Don is said to be the fourth Tamil film to have crossed the $300K mark in the US, after Beast, Valimai and Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal. Reports suggest that the film minted Rs 14 crore on its release day even as it clashed with Mahesh Babu's Sarkaru Vaari Paata and the earlier releases K.G.F: Chapter 2 and Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kadhal. Trade pundits say that the film is likely to cross the Rs 34 crore-mark by the end of Monday. Don is considered to be the second biggest opener for Siva after Seemaraja which released in 2018.

Now, the latest we hear is that the film is likely to stream on Netflix next month, after it completes the four-week window since its theatrical release on May 13. The film has music by Anirudh Ravichandar, who has previously collaborated with Sivakarthikeyan on films like Ethir Neechal, Maan Karate, Remo, and Doctor.

The film marks the directorial debut of Cibi Chakravarthy, a former assistant to director Atlee. Priyanka Mohan plays the leading lady, while SJ Suryah plays the antagonist. The star cast also includes Soori, Samuthirakani, Sivaangi, RJ Vijay, and Munishkanth. Sivakarthikeyan had taken to his social media page to wish the director on his maiden venture. He had written, "Excited and extremely happy to present you #DON ❤️ @Dir_Cibi ‘s maiden directorial venture, hope you all wil lik this film.. DON is all yours now ❤️❤️👍 #DONfromToday (sic)." The film was released simultaneously in Telugu as College Don. Interestingly, Priyanka and Sivakarthikeyan had teamed up for their last release, Doctor, which was directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.

Don has Sivakarthikeyan playing a college student. Portions for the film have been extensively canned across Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Coimbatore, Pollachi and Udumalpettai. Cinematography is by KM Bhaskaran and editing is Nagooran Ramachandran.
