Jayam Ravi in Siren
Tamil star Jayam Ravi's latest movie, Siren , went through a volatile phase in the run-up to its release in cinemas. The film was supposed to hit screens last year but was delayed. Later, speculations were rife that it would make a direct debut on streaming before the film's cast and crew invested a lot of time in promotions to dispel the rumours.
Finally, Siren is now all set to make its streaming debut next week. The film will start streaming on Disney+Hotstar on April 19, more than two months after its theatrical debut.
Typically, most Tamil movies will have their digital premiere after completing an exclusive four-week theatrical run. However, this was not the case for Siren. The film's streaming partners also changed in the last few months.
Earlier, reports claimed that ZEE5 had the film's streaming rights.
Before the release of Siren, Jayam Ravi expressed faith in the film's ability to resonate with family audiences. He noted that he had gravitated towards action dramas in recent years and fell short of catering to the expectations of family audiences. He claimed that Siren would fill that void in his career.
"This is a family film. It signifies my return to emotional dramas after being drawn towards action films in recent times. This is a film for family audiences. I enjoyed a lot while playing this film, so it's close to my heart," he said on the eve of the film's release.

In Siren, Jayam Ravi plays the role of a former ambulance driver. The story revolves around his complicated relationship with his daughter, played by Keerthy Suresh. Based on the trailer, it seems that the protagonist is sentenced to jail for a crime he didn't commit. The film appears to delve into the themes of crime, punishment, justice, and redemption.
