Siren opened to mixed reviews upon its release. “Siren has a plenty of elements going on. There is father and daughter bond, a bigger addressal of caste, a crime scene, and police trying to chase after the killer. To give its due, most of the scenes in Siren seem to connect with each other. But rather being organic, they seem to be forced upon, in what it results as a convoluted screenplay. In other cases, no explanations whatsoever is given,” reads OTTplay review of the film.
Siren stars Jayam Ravi as protagonist Thilakan Varman who gets to taste the sense of freedom after being released on parole. While he shares a strained relationship with his teenage daughter, a series of murders take place and all fingers point towards him. Keerthy Suresh plays a cop who is at the helm of solving the case, while bearing the accusation of custodial violence.
The film is directed by Antony Bhagyaraj in his directorial debut. It also stars Yogi Babu, Anupama Parameswaran, Samuthirakani, among others. The post-theatrical rights of Siren are bagged by Disney+ Hotstar. A streaming date is yet to be announced. The film is produced by Sujatha Vijaykumar.
