Venky Atluri, who made a fine debut as a director with Tholi Prema, went onto helm romantic entertainers like Mr Majnu and Rang De later. However, he preserved his best as a director for Sir a.k.a Vaathi, a drama centring on a teacher in a rural area who takes on the education system, headlined by Dhanush and Samyuktha Menon. The film was a success in both Tamil and Telugu versions.
After Sir, the director is working on a film revolving around a financial scam. Dulquer Salmaan was recently confirmed as the male lead of the prestigious project. Sir, Rang De producers Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas are jointly backing this project that’ll simultaneously release across multiple languages. GV Prakash Kumar is scoring the music.
The title of the film was announced today. “Presenting you #LuckyBaskhar - Embark on a Captivating Journey, The Unraveling Triumphs of an Ordinary Man! Wishing the man of elegance and charm, @dulQuer, a very Happy Birthday! #HBDDulquerSalmaan,” the production house tweeted. In the first look, Dulquer smiles while he’s surrounded by 100 Rs notes from several corners.
GV Prakash too expressed his happiness on being part of the project. “Presenting u #LuckyBaskhar - happy to join hands with venkyatluri and nagvamsi sir after the success of vaathi … and super happy to collaborate with Dulquer for the first time … a super exciting script to work on ..” Srikara Studios, a regular collaborator with Sithara Entertainments, is presenting the film.
Navin Nooli is on board as the editor while Banglan, who worked on Malayalam films like Home, Safe, Kurup, Kammara Sambhavam, is the production designer. Other details around the cast, crew will be confirmed shortly. The producers of Lucky Bhaskar are also coming up with Vaisshnav Tej’s Adikeshava, Tillu Square and have procured the Telugu rights of Leo.
