The king returns as Shailendra Singh gears up for a 2026 release of the Singh Is Kinng sequel, with Ranveer Singh as the frontrunner for the lead role.
Shailendra Singh has been considering a sequel to 2008's Singh Is Kinng for the last seven years. Midday reported that filmmaker Vipul A Shah, in 2017, refused to relinquish the title of the Akshay Kumar film, posing a significant obstacle to the producer's efforts to initiate a sequel. Now, as per the latest report, the good news is that times have evolved. Shailendra, who recently bought the name, is excited to start developing the sequel and hopes to turn it into a series.
In an interview with the tabloid, the producer stated that he asked Akshay Kumar to return the title because he planned to create a sequel after receiving it. Shailendra then attempted to create part two. After battling with Vipul and Akshay for 12 years, he finally secured the title three years ago. The production of Singh is Kinng 2 has commenced. He will start production in October 2025 and release it in 2026.

Shailendra, renowned for his contributions to Malamaal Weekly (2007) and Page 3 (2005), conceived a unique concept for the sequel, which involves dispatching the protagonist, Happy Singh, to England in order to retrieve the Koh-i-Noor.
However, the producer clarified that the production never took place. Given the current trend of remakes and sequels, the producer is currently in the process of mounting the second part. They will soon reveal the ultimate title, Singh is Kinng 2 or Singh is Kinng Returns. The hero will no longer go by "Happy Singh," and a new character will emerge.
A new hero steps forward to lead the series in each new film. Ranveer Singh is his top choice, he announces without delay. The producer had previously contacted the actor's agency. Shailendra also revealed that they reached out to his management on Saturday. His character is full of life, mischievousness, and joy. One more thing: Ranveer is completely new to the role of Sardar. Plans for Ranveer's sequel fell through in 2017. The timing presents an ideal opportunity for Ranveer and Shailendra Singh to showcase their skills. Diljit Dosanjh is his backup plan in case Ranveer doesn't pan out.
Shailendra elaborates by saying that he would prefer Priyadarshan or Anees Bazmee to direct the film.
