Filmmaker-actor RJ Balaji's latest movie, Singapore Saloon , is all set to make its OTT debut soon. The movie will be available for streaming on Tentkotta starting February 23. However, only viewers outside India can access the movie on this platform.

The filmmakers have yet to unveil the streaming partner details in India. It is safe to assume that the film is likely to become available in the country coinciding with its worldwide digital release.

Singapore Saloon's shorter theatrical window

Singapore Saloon hit big screens worldwide on January 25, coinciding with the Republic Day holiday. Following current industry trends, the film is set to make its OTT debut in less than four weeks after its box office debut.

For some time now, stakeholders have been at loggerheads with the shorter window between the initial theatrical release and OTT debuts of new movies. The makers of South Indian films, especially Tamil movies, have shown little interest in extending their theatrical run, given the lucrative offers they receive from streaming partners.

Singapore Saloon plot

Singapore Saloon tells the story of an enterprising youngster played by RJ Balaji. Kathir, portrayed by Balaji, is an engineering graduate who turns down a job offer landed during a campus interview to follow his own path. He challenges social norms and prejudices to become a barber. Kathir's father, oblivious to the embedded problematic views in his statement, tells him, "These are generational traits. How can you do it?"

For generations, being a barber has been considered a demeaning profession. Despite the world evolving, with hairstylists becoming one of the most glamorous and celebrated professions, a sizable population still clings to an archaic perception of the profession.

However, Kathir is in no mood to let society's outdated views control his life choices. He vows to show that he can lead a better, wealthier, and more fulfilling life as a barber. Yet, his entrepreneurial ambitions face a formidable foe in big corporations with investments in this business.

Written and directed by Gokul, Singapore Saloon also stars Sathyaraj, Lal, Kishen Das, Ann Sheetal, Thalaivasal Vijay, John Vijay, and Robo Shankar. Lokesh Kanagaraj, Arvind Swamy, and Jiiva have made cameo appearances in the movie.
