Pathu Thala, which also stars Gautham Karthik, is all set to hit screens on March 30

The film, directed by Obeli Krishna, also stars Gautham Karthik, Gautham Menon and Priya Bhavani Shankar. Silambarasan plays the dreaded gangster AGR, who is much loved by the poor and is a nightmare to his nemesis. During a recent press meet, Silambarasan revealed an interesting similarity between Pathu Thala and Kamal Haasan's Vikram, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
Speaking on the occasion, Silambarasan TR said, "Since there are too many people as part of the star cast, I was a bit sceptical about everyone getting their due screen space. I would constantly walk up to Krishna and tell him to give others a few shots. He would then assure me that I need not worry and that everyone has got their space. The last time I saw a film that had a huge star cast and everyone had got important roles to play was Vikram. Krishna has tried that in Pathu Thala. I think the way he has managed to blend in everyone's character is fabulous."
The actor also jocularly added that the way his co-star in the film, Gautham Menon is busy with his acting commitments, the sequel to Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya might never be made. "At this rate, I am not sure if we can do Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya 2. There are only certain directors who enact a scene while showing it to actors and Gautham Menon is one of them. I am glad to have acted with him. I think he will get quite busy with his acting after this film."

"We have given Rahman sir the trailer, only a day before the audio launch. He finished work on it, came for the launch, performed the Sufi concert, flew to London for Ponniyin Selvan 2 recording and is now back doing the re-recording for Pathu Thala. He truly is quite a man and there is a lot to learn from him. He has always given me a lot of love and fantastic albums and been a phenomenal support."
