By releasing the look of Silambarasan, the makers of Thug Life announced his casting officially on Wednesday. The film is directed by Mani Ratnam and headlined by Kamal Haasan
It is official! Actor Silambarasan has joined the star-studded cast of the upcoming Tamil film Thug Life. The makers of the film announced his casting officially on Wednesday by releasing the look of Silambarasan. Previously, a shooting spot still from the sets of Thug Life got leaked, which featured actors Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan, Abhirami and Nasser shooting for a scene.

Thug Life is directed by ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam and produced by Madras Talkies and Raaj Kamal Films International. The makers officially released the first look of actor Silambarasan from Thug Life. The first look was released in the form of a poster and video teaser. The video shows Silambarasan riding a car on the sand dunes of a desert, and towards the end, he points a gun towards the camera and smiles.
It is to be noted that Silambarasan is now starring in the role, which was first announced for Dulquer Salmaan. He was expected to play Kamal Haasan’s son in the film. However, the actor had to leave the project due to other commitments. Likewise, actor Jayam Ravi, who was earlier part of the project, is also out of Thug Life due to the same reasons. Others who are part of Thug Life include Trisha, Joju George, Gautham Karthik, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Nasser, Abhirami and others. As per reports, Trisha and Silambarasan will be a pair in Thug Life, marking their onscreen reunion after Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa.

Thug Life marks Kamal and Mani Ratnam’s reunion after the classic gangster film Nayakan. The production for the film was put on hold owing to the Lok Sabha elections and has now restarted in full swing. The film will have AR Rahman score the music. A release date for Thug Life is yet to be announced.
Silambarasan has earlier worked with Mani Ratnam in the 2018 film Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. While Thug Life will be his first collaboration with Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan is acting in STR 48 which is backed by the latter’s production banner.
