Silambarasan made a massive comeback to films after a low phase and a subsequent short break, with the box office successes of Maanaadu and Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu. The popular star is currently on a signing spree and has some highly promising projects in the pipeline. Meanwhile, the grapevine suggests that Silambarasan, who is also a talented filmmaker, is set to make a comeback to direction with his 50th film.
Silambarasan to direct STR 50?
If the latest reports are to be believed, Silambarasan is set to turn a filmmaker yet again with his 50th outing in Tamil cinema. The project, which is still in its budding stage, will go on floors only after Simbu wraps up his 48th project which is helmed by Desingh Periyasamy and tentatively called STR 48, and the yet-to-be announced STR 49.
Interestingly, the multi-faceted talent is also said to be planning to pen the script for his 50th outing himself. If things go as planned, Silambarasan’s long-awaited comeback to filmmaking will be officially announced by the first half of 2024.
Silambarasan to revive his ambitious project Kettavan?
Meanwhile, some unconfirmed reports also suggest that Silambarasan is planning to revive his ambitious project Kettavan, for his 50thouting in Tamil cinema. According to the grapevine, the actor is planning to rework the shelved movie’s script, after wrapping up his acting commitments. However, we will have to wait till the official announcement of STR 50, to know if the reports are true.
For the uninitiated, Kettavan, originally planned as Silambarasan’s 25th film, was initially supposed to be helmed by Nandhu. However, the director walked out of the project following a fallout with the actor, and it was delayed for a couple of years. Later, leading man Simbu stepped in as the director and even did a special photoshoot for the project. However, the psychological thriller was eventually shelved due to financial and logistical constraints.
Simbu’s work front
The talented actor will be next seen in STR 48, which is touted to be a period mass action film. The Desingh Periyasamy directorial is bankrolled by legendary actor Kamal Haasan, under his home banner Raaj Kamal Films International. Silambarasan also has an exciting line-up, including the sequels Maanaadu 2, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu 2, and more.
