Shershaah is a biopic based on the life of Kargil War hero Captain Vikram Batra
Like all other industries, the film industry has also been badly hit by the pandemic and is struggling to stay on its feet. If reports are true, more big budget movies will be moving to OTT platforms as a result of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
The most recent out of that would be Sidharth starrer Shershaah. Earlier this year, in February, it was announced that the movie will be released in theaters on July 2, but the plan had to be cancelled because of the COVID pandemic. As per latest reports, a deal has been made between the makers and Amazon Prime Video. An official announcement regarding the same is expected to come as soon as all the paperwork for the same is finished. Reportedly, the movie is slated to release next month.
Directed by Vishnuvardhan and co-produced by Karan Johar, Shershaah is a biopic on the life of Kargil War hero Captain Vikram Batra, who was called the ‘Shershah of Kargil’. The movie follows the life of the Param Vir Chakra awardee and his girlfriend, Dimple Cheema, Kiara Advani plays the role of the latter. Sidharth Malhotra will also be playing the character of Vikram's twin brother, Vishal Batra.
Shershaah was officially announced in May 2019. The initial filming for the movie started the same month and wrapped up in January 2020. Shershaah is also the directorial debut of Vishnuvarshan
OTT platforms have become the major source of entertainment in the absence of movie theatres. While many movies that were originally planned for theatres have already been released, it seems as if more and more movies would be coming to us via the digital route. Recently, Salman Khan also took the digital route for his Eid release Radhe. After that, many celebrities are considering a direct-to-OTT release.
