Sidharth Malhotra plays the titular role of Vikram Batra in Shershaah

Upcoming flick Shershaah is expected to put Bollywood star Sidharth Malhotra on the map. The film is based on true events bringing the story about the Hero of Kargil, Capt. Vikram Batra which is set to release on August 12, 2021, on Amazon Prime Video. Through his actions of bravery and major sacrifice for the well being of our nation, Captain Batra remains a legend and a source of inspiration for people, especially youth who wish to follow his footprints and choose the same career path.

Sidharth wishes that his yet-to-be released movie Shershaah will educate the new generation about the true role model Captain Batra and he will serve as a source of inspiration in the process.

Malhotra while giving an interview to Hindustan Times told very recently that when the Kargil war was actually happening in 1999, he was in his teenage years and he vaguely remembers the interviews about it on TV. However he remembers Vikram Batra saying ‘Yeh Dil Maange More’. Sidharth went ahead and stated that the whole shooting process for Shershaah was a surreal experience. He said it was difficult for him to comprehend the whole war situation when he was younger but now he got to see up close after several years post the war in detail and what the army does. The Ek Villain actor said he has immense respect for the armed forces as they go through a lot of difficult situations and make a lot of sacrifices all for us to enjoy the kind of freedom we have right now.

About the character that Sidharth portrays, he said that he has seen both sides of him and met his family. Capt. Batra wanted to experience a lot of things and was full of zest but he chose to give up all that just to do his duty and protect the nation.
