Siddharth on Maha Samudram: The friendship with Sharwanand is my biggest takeaway from this film

Actor Siddharth is returning to Telugu cinema after a long sabbatical with Ajay Bhupathi's multi-starrer gangster saga Maha Samudram, that is slated to hit theatres on October 14. The film also stars Sharwanand, Aditi Rao Hydari, Anu Emmanuel, Rao Ramesh, Jagapathi Babu, Garuda Ram and others in pivotal roles. Ahead of the film's release, the actor shared his experiences of shooting for the film in Vizag and how he prepped for the role, in an interaction with the media in Hyderabad.

"I was really impressed with the director's first film RX 100. Even when Ajay was narrating the script of Maha Samudram, it didn't feel like it was coming from a one-film old director at all. I immediately said yes to it. Just when I and Sharwa were good to start shoot, COVID-19 complicated matters. However, this is a superb script and has everything in it to be a trendsetter. Sharwanand is a wonderful actor. We both have our own reasons to do the film, but share common trust in the story," he said.

He even sang a couple of lines from his popular track, Apudo Ipudo from Bommarillu on the stage in the pre-release event. He further added, "Every one is saying that I am making a comeback with the film but I'm here to say that I am well and truly back. I've been dreaming all my life to see myself in a character like that I've got in Maha Samudram. It's all credit to Ajay Bhupathi that dream is a reality today. The director proved he had speed with RX100, he'll prove he has mileage as well with Maha Samudram."

Beyond the fact that the film stars, Siddarth remarked that his biggest takeaway from it was his friendship with Sharwanand. On a lighter note, he said, "For the first time on stage, I wish to tell 'I love you' to a co-actor and this is for Sharwanand. I may be looking forward to the film's success or how audiences will receive my performance but beyond all that, I cherish the time we spent together making this film. It's only because of Sharwanand that the film could have been mounted on such a huge canvas. I don't mind calling Maha Samudram, a Sharwanand film."
