Shwetha Srivatsav was slowly and steadily making a mark as a talent to watch out for with her performance-oriented roles in films like Simplag Ond Love Story and Kiragoorina Gayyaligalu, when she took a break to welcome her first born, Ashmitha. Until her pregnancy break, Shwetha had kept her marital status a well-hidden secret, but since then, she has been posting a lot of details about her family on social media, especially with her little one.

The actress, who has been vocal about the fact that she stopped getting film offers when filmmakers realized her “condition”, was away for a good 3-4 years until new roles came to her. One of these is a film called Hope, a political thriller in which Shwetha plays a KAS officer. In an earlier interaction with the media, Shwetha had said, although Hope is a political thriller at its heart, it is also about the journey of her character, a KAS officer, who has to strike a balance between her personal life and her duties as a high-ranked official. “The film is about how she navigates through the political setup and upholds her values and principles, while dealing with a generally male-dominated society,” she was quoted as saying.

Yesterday, it was announced that the film, directed by Ambarisha, has zeroed in on a date to release in theatres. Hope is, as of now, the first Kannada film to announce July 8 and it remains to be seen how many more will join in, considering that pretty much every week there are multiple movies hitting screens. In fact, the preceding week, July 1, has three as of now – Bairagee, Abbabba and Window Seat – so, it would not be surprising if other films join Shwetha’s Hope on the 8th.

The actress, who is now back after nearly 7 years, will have another release this year, when Raghavendra Stores, her film with Navarasa Nayaka Jaggesh, comes to theatres on August 5.
